We're asymmetrical
April 18, 2025Asymmetric (unequal) or symmetric (equal) refers to a vehicle hoist's column configuration or arm configuration. While a two-post car hoist is designed to fit a range of car widths, most with symmetrical arms (all four arms are equal length) make it difficult to open the driver and passenger doors as the post obstructs them from opening wide when the vehicle is raised.
All Lugnutz lifts are set up in an asymmetric configuration which allows a vehicle to be positioned between the columns with approximately one-third of the car in front of the column and two thirds behind the column. This configuration allows the driver and passenger front doors to open wider while still clearing the columns, giving better access to the vehicle's interior if required.
